Ep. 12 Insatiable Desire to Learn, Don’t F – – – It up with Jasen Mikels

Welcome back to the 12th episode of the Hard Thing Podcast!
I’m excited to share with you my conversation with my father-in-law, Jasen Mikels.
First we talk about this weeks Instrument of Change:
***
INSTRUMENT OF CHANGE
This week’s instrument of change is an app called Meetup.  It’s a great way for you to be able to find people near you who share similar interests with you. Most people need other people in order to be active in their hobbies. Find people who enjoy what you do and engage with them to improve your skills.

In today’s episode, I talk with Jasen about many things. First we chat about his career and how he went from dropping out of high school to being very successful in the IT field.  He shares the story of how he started programming on his Atari and how he developed an insatiable desire to learn. He latter tells about how one manager saw potential in him and went out on a limb to give him  a chance. That manager gave him the advice of “not effing it up”.
It was a very insightful conversation that will help you a lot.
